Sherrerd Hall: Home to Two Vital Areas of Inquiry

Made possible by a bequest from John Sherrerd ’52 and his family, Sherrerd Hall houses the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering and the Center for Information Technology Policy. Both are vital to discourse about business, government, and the future.

The department encompasses five core disciplines -- financial mathematics, operations research, optimization, probability theory, and statistics. The center consolidates expertise in technology, engineering, public policy, and the social sciences.

The building's glass walls offer its occupants a clear view of the surrounding academic centers with which they collaborate, including engineering school departments to the east and social sciences departments to the west.

“The geography maps perfectly with the intellectual content of our work.”
